The holidays in beautiful downtown San Diego are well under way with numerous holiday activities. For some it began with the lighting of the traditional Christmas trees recently in Little Italy and at the Coronado Ferry landing. For other’s it might have been the wonderful Balboa Park December Nights. Hanukkah is also underway with the lighting of the menorah at Chabad of Downtown San Diego and there are still many other activities and festivities to look forward to.
Gaslamp Holiday Pet-parade will be on again Sunday, December 13th starting at MLK Promenade Park, adjacent to the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter (401 K Street, San Diego, CA 92101) at 3pm. Best vantage points for the Pet Parade are along 4th & 5th Avenues between E and K Street.
San Diego Bay Parade of Lights will be returning for the forty-fourth year. More than eighty boats will be participating in this festive celebration for all to see on Sunday December 14th and then again on December 21st. This two hour parade will start at 5:30pm from Shelter Island and proceed past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village and then past Coronado’s Ferry Landing area before ending around 7:30pm. This year’s theme is “Christmas around the world.”
The San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade is known as America’s largest balloon parade and it takes place right here in San Diego on December 30, 2015. It is an impressive procession of enormous balloons along with world-class marching bands, magnificent floats, and entertaining drill teams. The festivities get underway at 9:30am. The route starts from N. Harbor Drive and the County Administration Building and proceeds to W. Harbor Drive and Pacific Hwy. After the parade, activity will continue on Broadway Pier with games, and entertainment at the annual Family Festival.

The San Diego Symphony Holiday Pops concert at Copley Symphony Hall December 18th through the 20th. This year they will be performing Cirque Musica.
The San Diego Ballet will be presenting Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker December 26th and 27th. This production features an international cast of over one hundred dancer’s from China, Japan, Russia, South Africa and Mexico as well as San Diego School of Ballet’s children from all over San Diego County.
